It's been a hard day really. Our best pupils from grade 10 were participating in a gala performance in the State University. The party was devoted to the glorious jubilee of the faculty of Romanic and Germanic Philology, the one which has been "alma mater" for most of foreign languages teachers of our gymnasia. We'd like to share our pleasure with you. Here come the lines we devoted to the faculty and the  pictures of our performance on the stage.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,
 students, tutors, professors,
newcomers and everybody in this hall.
It’s our privilege and pleasure to greet the faculty on a particular day of its anniversary.
Let the sun shine into your windows,
let students be talented and smart,
let professors be tolerant and understanding.
Best of luck in every project!
Congratulations!

Hello, everybody!
It’s time to master our grammar skills, isn’t it?
Some of you find difficulty answering questions.
Well, it’s no wonder, since we do not just say “Yes” or “no” like Russians do. In English you should demonstrate your knowledge of grammar and answering any question, you can’t but use auxiliary verbs like: do, does, did, will, have, etc.
Read the poem, it can teach you how to ask and to answer correctly, cheerfully and fluently.
P.S. Break a leg! Go on!

Does she love him?- Yes, she does.
Is she happy?- Yes, she is.
Does he know it?- Yes, he does. Yes, he knows it.

Will she hug him?- Yes, she will.
Will she kiss him?- Yes, she will.
Will she leave him?- Yes, she will, if she has to.

Does  he love her?- Yes, he does.
Is he happy?- Yes, he is.
Does she know it?- Yes, she does. She knows it.

Will he hug her?- Yes, he will.
Will he kiss her?- Yes, he will.
Will he leave her?- Yes, he will, if he has to.

Are they happy?- yes, they are.
Are they lucky?-yes, they are.
Do they know it?- yes, they do.  They know it.

Will he find someone new?
Will she find someone new?
Yes, they will. Yes, they will, if they have to.

My Teddy

The other day my 5th formers asked me to pick out some stories and pictures of the most beloved creatures- Teddy-bears. I am happy to introduce here the most celebrated Teddies in the English-speaking world,  Winnie-the- Pooh, Paddington and Teddy. I hereby publish some lines from the history of each and would like you to read and enjoy the curious fairy-world of your favourites. Just follow me!

* The teddy bear is a stuffed toy bear. They are usually stuffed with soft, white cotton and have smooth and soft fur. It is known and popular in many countries, often serving the purpose of entertaining children. Today  teddy bears come in various styles and people can dress them up in many different articles of clothing. Teddy bears are also among the most popular gifts for children on Valentine's Day, birthdays, Christmas and other holidays.
The name Teddy Bear comes from former United States President Theodore Roosevelt, whose nickname was "Teddy". The name originated from an incident on a bear hunting trip in Mississippi in November 1902. There were several other hunters competing, and most of them had already killed an animal. But Theodor  refused to shoot the bear himself, he felt sorry for the mother-bear and her cubs. It became the topic of a political cartoon.  Morris Michtom saw the drawing of Roosevelt and created a little stuffed bear cub and put it in his shop window with a sign that read "Teddy's bear"

** Winnie-the-Pooh, also called Pooh Bear, is a fictional bear created by A. A. Milne, he named his toy bear after Winnie, a Canadian black bear which he often saw at London Zoo, and "Pooh", a swan he  met while on holiday. The first collection of stories about the character was the book Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), and this was followed by The House at Pooh Corner (1928). Milne also included a poem about the bear in the children’s verse book When We Were Very Young (1924) and many more in Now We Are Six (1927). The character later appeared in adapted the a series of Disney features that became one of its most successful cartoons.

Winnie-the-Pooh Quotes
==“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”
==“We'll be Friends Forever, won't we, Pooh?' asked Piglet.
Even longer,' Pooh answered.”
==“Some people care too much. I think it's called love.”
==“If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

P.S. Next time I'm introducing Paddington to you , and here is a short episode to watch in advance.
